Event: 10th Anniversary Yellow Flag Iris Weedpull Event & Secwepemc Knowledge Workshop

Event Description: Join the Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society in celebrating their 10th anniversary of operations by participating in the annual Yellow Flag Iris Weedpull Event!

We aim to tackle the invasive Yellow Flag Iris, notorious for invading wetlands, streams, and lakeshores.

Starting at 9 am, we will focus on removing Yellow Flag Iris plants, targeting both their roots and deadheading the flowers to prevent seed dispersal.

As a unique highlight of the day, we are thrilled to offer a Workshop featuring Secwepemc Knowledge Keepers during the afternoon session. We will have an opportunity to learn directly from the Knowledge Keepers about food and medicine plants, as well as their traditional uses.

Date: Thursday, June 29th.

Time: Weedpull  9 am, Lunch 1130am,  Workshop 1230 pm

Location: Private Residence: Massey Yard 3163 White Lake Road

Parking: Please utilize the pullout at the top of the driveway for parking. If you are bringing a boat, you may drive down into the yard to unload.
