Sourcing firewood locally is good practice.

Did you know?

Non-native insects can hitch a ride on firewood and have the potential to damage large numbers of trees and put BC’s forests at risk. New occurrences of harmful insects and diseases are often found first in campgrounds and parks.

You can help minimize the risk of transporting non-native insects by choosing to source your firewood local and Buy it Where you Burn It!

What is considered “local” firewood?

Firewood that has been cut within 20 km from where you burn it is ideal.

Firewood that is collected from over 80 km is too far.
