Join Us: Yellow Flag Iris Weed Pull at Little White Lake
Date: Thursday, June 12, 2025
Time: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Massey Yard (Private Residence), 31XX White Lake Road, White Lake, B.C.
Help protect local wetlands by joining CSISS for a community weed pull focused on Yellow Flag Iris—a highly invasive plant that threatens lakeshores, streams, and wetland ecosystems.
Yellow Flag Iris spreads aggressively through seed dispersal and underground roots, forming dense mats that crowd out native plants and damage wildlife habitat. Together, we’ll remove this plant by digging, cutting, and deadheading to support the health of Little White Lake’s shoreline.
What to Bring:
- Canoes (for shoreline access)
- Waders or waterproof boots
- Weather appropriate clothing
- Work gloves
- A willingness to get your hands dirty and make a difference!
Parking: Use the pullout at the top of the driveway. If you are bringing a canoe you may drive down into the yard to unload.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided. No experience or gear necessary—just come ready to learn and lend a hand!
