Thanks to an Environment Grant obtained from the Alpine Club of Canada, a collaborative effort was taken to install two new ‘boot brush stations’ at the Mt. Begbie and Begbie Bluffs trailheads.

This project was initiated by the Invasive Species Council of BC and completed with support from the Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society and the BC Ministry of Forests. The purpose of these boot brush stations is to prevent the introduction of invasive species and ensures any invasive plant seeds people step on while in the area don’t leave with them. We want to encourage people the next time they visit these sites, to be sure to wipe their footwear before they head out on the trail, and after they return.

Environmental stewardship of Revelstoke’s beautiful surroundings and rich biodiversity is an important practice for our community. As your organization has its own unique following, we wanted to extend an opportunity to spread the word about the importance and purpose of the boot brush stations with your network.

Helping us to raise awareness about this new ‘tool’ available at the trailheads would be greatly appreciated and will lead to increased positive actions by trail users in the area.
