Rail Trail Invasive Species Community Weed Pull

Yellow Flag Iris Weed Pull, Little White Lake
Join the Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society for a community weed pull at Little White Lake! Together, we’ll help remove Yellow Flag Iris, an invasive plant that spreads aggressively through wetlands, streams, and lakeshores by seed dispersal and
underground rhizomes. Volunteers will assist with digging, cutting, and deadheading flowers to help prevent the plant from spreading further and protect local ecosystems.

- Volunteer check-in: 3:45 PM
- Weed pull: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Private residence, Little White Lake, Sorrento BC
- Additional location details will be provided after you sign up through the Google Form
What to Expect
To help make this event a success, participants are encouraged to bring their own canoes, if available, to access areas where Yellow Flag Iris is most prevalent. If you don’t have a canoe, don’t worry – all other necessary tools and equipment will be provided on-site.

Food Commons Natural Dye Workshop
The Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society is partnering with the Revelstoke Local Food Initiative for a two-day invasive species harvesting and natural dye workshop.
Day 1: GROUP HARVEST of invasive species to gather dye materials
Day 2: SEW AND CELEBRATE with a discussion led by a CSISS representative
